Google Tag Manager
Deploy the Convor production embed with a Google Tag Manager Custom HTML tag.
If your website uses Google Tag Manager, you can load Convor from a Custom HTML tag instead of editing the site template directly.
Create the tag
- Open your GTM container and create a new tag.
- Choose Custom HTML.
- Paste the production embed code from Settings → Widget → Installation and security.
- Choose the pages where the tag should run.
- Test in GTM Preview mode, then publish the container.
The HTML should look like this:
<script
src="https://cdn.convor.io/widget.js"
data-key="convor_wpk_..."
async
></script>Replace convor_wpk_... with the public widget key from the Convor dashboard.
The key is safe to expose in browser code and is not an organization secret API
key.
Configure the widget in Convor
Keep stable Convor configuration out of GTM. Use Settings → Widget for appearance, localized content, and pre-chat fields; use Triggers for named proactive messages. The same GTM tag can stay in place when those saved settings change.
Do not add service endpoints
The hosted widget already contains the production Convor endpoints. GTM should load the standard production snippet, not a hand-maintained API, iframe, or WebSocket configuration.
