Configuration
Configure the widget from the Convor dashboard without changing the production embed code.
Widget configuration is managed in Settings → Widget. The production embed code identifies the site with its public widget key; the widget then loads the saved configuration from Convor.
Appearance
Use the dashboard to configure the visitor-facing appearance, including:
- primary color;
- launcher and chat position;
- widget title and greeting;
- theme;
- launcher style and branding settings available to your plan.
Save the changes and refresh the page containing the widget. You do not need to replace the embed code after changing appearance settings.
Conversation behavior
Settings → Widget also controls the dashboard-backed pre-chat form. Other behavior lives in dedicated areas: site hostnames under Sites, named proactive messages under Triggers, operator availability under Team, and AI Chatbot operating hours under AI Chatbot → Basics.
Browser-only widget overrides such as autoOpen, departments, and
soundEnabled are documented separately in Widget Customization.
Application-provided visitor data
Do not put customer-specific data or secrets in HTML attributes. When your
application knows the signed-in user or needs to synchronize client-side routes,
use the public window.Convor API instead.
await Convor.ready();
await Convor.setUser({
name: currentUser.name,
email: currentUser.email,
});For verified signed-in identity, open Settings → Widget → Installation and security and generate the identity secret there,
keep it on your server, and follow the Convor.identify() signing flow in the
Widget JavaScript API.
Production embed
Keep the production embed copied from the dashboard. It needs the public
data-key; Convor's production service endpoints are part of the hosted widget
build, not customer configuration.
