Telegram Integration
The Telegram integration connects Telegram to Convor bidirectionally. Your team receives Convor notifications in Telegram groups or channels, and messages sent to your Telegram bot are routed into Convor conversations.
The Telegram integration connects Telegram to Convor bidirectionally. Your team receives Convor notifications in Telegram groups or channels, and messages sent to your Telegram bot are routed into Convor conversations as incoming chats.
Prerequisites
- A Telegram Bot created via @BotFather
- A Telegram group or channel where the bot is added as an administrator
- Convor Growth plan or higher
- Operator access in your Convor organization
Setup
Create a Telegram bot through @BotFather and copy the bot token. In your Convor dashboard, open Integrations → Telegram. Enter the bot token, the target chat ID (or group ID), select which events should trigger notifications, and optionally set a webhook secret. Click Save to store the configuration.

}Notification Events
Convor sends Telegram messages when any of the following events occur. Toggle each event independently in the integration settings.
| Event | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| New Conversation | A visitor starts a new chat session | Enabled |
| New Message | An unread message arrives in an active conversation | Enabled |
| Conversation Assigned | A conversation is assigned to an operator | Enabled |
| SLA Breach | Response time exceeds the configured SLA threshold | Enabled |
| AI Handoff | The AI bot transfers a conversation to a human operator | Enabled |
Getting the Chat ID
To find your Telegram group or channel ID, add the @userinfobot to your group and send any message. The bot will reply with the chat ID. Alternatively, use the Telegram Bot API getUpdates method and check the chat object in the response. Group IDs are always negative numbers.
Webhook Setup
After saving your configuration, click Setup Webhook to register your Convor instance as the webhook endpoint with Telegram. The webhook URL must be publicly accessible and match your Convor server domain. Once registered, incoming Telegram messages are routed into Convor conversations automatically.
Tip
Use the Test Connection button to verify your bot token and chat ID are valid before setting up the webhook. This sends a test message to your configured Telegram group.
Troubleshooting
Warning
If notifications are not appearing in Telegram, verify the bot is a member of the target group with permission to send messages. Check that the chat ID matches exactly.
- Notifications not appearing: Ensure the bot has SendMessage permission in the group
- Invalid bot token: Verify the token from @BotFather has not been regenerated
- Webhook errors: Confirm your Convor server URL is publicly accessible and uses HTTPS
- Rate limiting: Telegram limits bots to ~1 message per second per group; Convor enforces a 5-second dedup window
