Block visitors, IP addresses and countries

Choose the right blocking level and review the consequences before applying restrictions.

Choose the scope first. Block a specific visitor profile if one person is causing trouble, or use an IP address rule to stop matching traffic before Convor creates a session, including other visitors who share the address. Country blocks cover much more ground. Check who might lose access.

When to block an individual visitor

Find the person under Visitors. Use this for targeted abuse. An authorized operator can later open Settings → Visitor blocking → Blocked visitors to check who was blocked, review the restriction and remove it when the problem has been resolved. Confirm the profile before acting.

Block an address or range

Under IP addresses and ranges, choose Single address or Address range. Enter the address and an optional Reason. The example uses 192.0.2.42, a reserved documentation address, so no real visitor is identified.

Choose one address or a range, and confirm which visitors might be affected before saving.

Restrict a country

Country rules are broader. In Countries, choose the region you want to restrict, but first consider how many legitimate customers could be affected, especially when geolocation is inaccurate or visitors are using shared networks. Review the selection carefully.

Country-level blocking is broader than a profile or IP rule and should be reviewed carefully.

Using the visitor API

An authorized integration can use the Block visitor endpoint after confirming the identity through List visitors. IP and country restrictions are separate safety controls. They must not be confused with a block on one visitor profile.

Check the restriction after saving

Return to Blocked visitors after blocking a profile and make sure you selected the intended person. Review the actual IP address or range once more before saving a network rule. A sudden drop in traffic can mean the rule works, but it can also mean legitimate visitors have lost access. If somebody reports that chat is unavailable, check these restrictions first.

Keep customer addresses private. Remove rules when the reason for applying them has expired.
