WhatsApp Integration
Connect a WhatsApp Business Account and phone number through Meta Embedded Signup, then handle conversations in Convor.
Connect a WhatsApp Business phone number to Convor so incoming messages appear in your shared inbox and operators can reply from the dashboard.
Convor manages the technical integration
The connection uses Meta Embedded Signup. Convor owns and maintains the Meta app, system-user access, webhook subscription, and signature verification. You do not need to create a Meta app, generate an API token, or configure a webhook.
Prerequisites
- A Meta account with administrator access to the relevant Business Portfolio
- Permission to create or select a WhatsApp Business Account
- A phone number that you can register or migrate during Meta's setup flow
- Access to receive the verification code for that phone number when Meta requests it
- Administrator access to your Convor organization
- A Convor plan that includes the WhatsApp integration
Meta may require additional business details, display-name review, or business verification depending on the account and intended use.
Connect WhatsApp Business
- In the Convor dashboard, open Integrations and select WhatsApp.
- Click Connect WhatsApp Business.
- Complete the Meta Embedded Signup dialog.
- Select an existing Meta Business Portfolio or create one when Meta offers that option.
- Select or create the WhatsApp Business Account.
- Select, register, or migrate the phone number that should be connected to Convor.
- Complete any phone verification or business information requested by Meta.
- Approve access and return to Convor. Convor completes the connection automatically.
- Use Validate connection to confirm that the phone number remains accessible.
Do not paste access tokens, app secrets, phone-number IDs, or webhook values into Convor. The Embedded Signup flow transfers the selected asset identifiers and a one-time authorization code securely.
What Convor configures automatically
After Embedded Signup finishes, Convor:
- validates that the selected WhatsApp Business Account and phone number belong to the completed Meta authorization
- subscribes the Convor Meta app to the WhatsApp Business Account
- stores only the organization-specific account and phone-number metadata
- uses Convor's server-managed system-user token for message delivery and media retrieval
- verifies incoming Meta webhook signatures
- routes inbound messages to the correct Convor organization
Platform credentials are not exposed in the dashboard.
Messaging rules
WhatsApp controls when free-form replies and approved templates may be used. Within an active customer-service conversation window, operators can generally send normal replies. Outside that window, an approved message template may be required. Template approval and policy enforcement remain managed by Meta.

Troubleshooting
Embedded Signup does not open
Allow pop-ups and Meta domains in the browser. Privacy extensions or strict tracking protection can block the Facebook SDK or the Embedded Signup window.
The required Business Portfolio or account is not listed
Confirm that the Meta account used during setup has administrator access to that Business Portfolio and permission to manage its WhatsApp assets. Restart the connection after access is corrected.
The phone number cannot be selected
The number may already be registered with another WhatsApp Business Platform provider or may require migration. Follow the options shown by Meta. Keep access to the number because Meta may send a verification code.
Setup completed in Meta but Convor reports an error
Start Embedded Signup again. Convor accepts only the one-time authorization code and asset identifiers returned by the same completed flow; stale or mismatched results are rejected for security.
Messages stopped arriving
Run Validate connection. If validation fails, reconnect the WhatsApp Business Account. Also check Meta Business Suite for account restrictions, incomplete verification, or phone-number status issues.
The number is connected to another organization
A WhatsApp phone number can be connected to only one Convor organization at a time because every inbound message must have one unambiguous destination. Disconnect it from the other organization first.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect on the integration page. Convor removes the organization connection and attempts to unsubscribe from the WhatsApp Business Account. Existing conversation history remains in Convor, but new WhatsApp messages are no longer imported.
